Petrobangla said on 1 August that the government has no current plan to raise gas prices in Bangladesh.
The state corporation issued the statement after claims circulated that a price increase was being considered.
It asked relevant stakeholders not to be confused by those claims.
Separately, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Kolkata, India, was cut by Rs 209 to Rs 2,872.50 from 1 August.
That Kolkata decision concerned commercial LPG used by businesses, while its household cooking-gas price remained Rs 968.
The Kolkata commercial-LPG reduction and Petrobangla’s Bangladesh price clarification are separate developments and should not be treated as one policy decision.
