A Chattogram court on August 2 granted Mobarak Hossain Iman, known as David Iman, a total of 10 days of remand in two murder and Arms Act cases.
Additional Superintendent of Police Kazi Md Tarek Aziz said police had requested seven days of remand in each case, and the court approved five days in each.
The scope of the order was described differently: one account referred to Iman, while another said it also covered four co-accused.
Police said Iman was arrested on July 29 in an operation in Jhunjhumpur, under Jashore Kotwali police station, along with Al Islam Alif, also known as Tamal, Md Shamim and Safayet Hossain.
Police said the arrests followed an investigation into the June 13 killing of Maksudul Haque Chowdhury in Pahartali, involving analysis of CCTV footage, technical information and intelligence.
Police said a named accused in that case, Mithu, also known as Dhama Ilias, was arrested on July 22 and questioned on two days of remand.
Police alleged that Iman faces 13 cases in Chattogram city and district involving accusations including murder, weapons offences and extortion.
Police also alleged that the investigation has identified information linking him to several killings in Chattogram city, Raozan and Rangunia.
