The Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (BAJUS) raised jewellery gold prices by up to Tk9,856 per bhori, including VAT, from 10am on 6 August.
BAJUS said its standing committee on pricing and price monitoring made the decision at a meeting at 9am that day.
The association set the price of 22-carat gold jewellery at Tk232,930 per bhori, or 11.664 grams, including VAT.
The previous 22-carat rate was Tk223,074 per bhori through 5 August.
The new per-bhori rates were Tk222,491 for 21-carat gold, Tk191,056 for 18-carat gold and Tk156,064 for traditional-method gold.
BAJUS also raised silver jewellery prices to Tk4,899 per bhori for 22-carat, Tk4,666 for 21-carat, Tk4,024 for 18-carat and Tk3,266 for traditional-method silver.
BAJUS attributed the revised prices to increases in international prices for pure gold and silver.
The association said design-dependent making charges would be added to the listed jewellery prices, while VAT is included in the sale price and cannot be collected separately from customers.
BAJUS said its existing policy on VAT, making charges and stone values would continue to apply to exchanges and buy-backs.
It said the new prices would apply at jewellery businesses nationwide until another announcement.
Two accounts list the 22-carat rate as Tk232,930 per bhori, while another describes it as approximately Tk232,960 per bhori.
