Two fertiliser traders fined Tk10,500 in Abhaynagar over TSP pricing

A mobile court fined two fertiliser traders a total of Tk10,500 in Abhaynagar, Jashore, over the sale of government TSP fertiliser above the official price.

The operation was carried out on the night of 2 August at Moricha market and Shubharara Balurghat market.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Ashish Kumar Basu led the mobile court.

Masud Molla, proprietor of Masud-Mamun Traders in Moricha market, was fined Tk10,000.

Riaz Uddin, proprietor of Bhai Bhai Krishi Store at Shubharara Balurghat market, was fined Tk500.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Lovely Khatun said 50-kilogram bags of government TSP fertiliser, set at Tk1,350, had been sold to farmers for Tk2,300.

Magistrate Basu said the penalties were imposed under the Consumer Rights Protection Act for sales above the government-set price.
