Police have arrested an auto-van driver in Ishwardi, Pabna, in a case alleging the rape of a second-grade schoolgirl.

The child’s family alleged that the incident occurred on 31 July, when she went to the accused’s home for private lessons.

They alleged that no other person was present at the home and that the accused took the child into a secluded room.

The family also alleged that the accused had sought to lure the child over an extended period with chocolate and other items.

The child’s grandmother filed the case with Ishwardi police on the evening of 1 August.

Police arrested the accused from his home that night.

Ishwardi police chief Asadur Rahman said the man was sent to jail through a court on the morning of 2 August.

The allegations have not been established in court, and the evidence provided does not state the outcome of any investigation or trial.
