A fire broke out in an ambulance parked in a garage on the Satkhira Medical College Hospital premises at about 9:25pm on August 3.
A unit from Satkhira Sadar Fire Service and police responded after the fire alert was received.
Deputy Assistant Director Md Saifuzzaman of Satkhira Fire Service and Civil Defence said the ambulance was burning beside stored oxygen cylinders of different sizes.
He said firefighters used foam rather than water because of the risk posed by the nearby cylinders.
The fire was fully extinguished at about 9:35pm, the Fire Service said.
Fire officials said no one was injured.
Preliminary observations indicated damage to an ambulance, batteries and oxygen cylinders inside it, as well as parts of the garage structure.
The cause of the fire and the total financial loss had not been determined, according to the Fire Service.
The medical college hospital director did not comment on the incident.
A separate fire was reported at a private hospital in Satkhira on August 4; it involved a hospital building and should not be conflated with the ambulance-garage incident.
For that separate incident, hospital authorities said the fire began at an oxygen pipeline, while the Fire Service said its precise cause was under investigation.
