Officials said they would investigate an allegation involving a schoolgirl at Alpha Kindergarten School in Bhandarpur Union of Badalgachhi, Naogaon.

The girl’s family alleged that the school’s founder and head teacher tried to sexually assault her on the morning of 3 August.

Police and local accounts said that, with attendance reduced by rain, the girl was alone when the alleged incident occurred and left after pushing the man away.

Her father called for stringent punishment, while the allegation has not been established through a court process.

On 4 August, students, parents and other residents gathered at the school, where vandalism and arson were reported.

Police and fire service personnel brought the situation under control.

Residents, students and parents also blocked a road, held a human chain and demonstrated at Bhandarpur Chourasta.

Upazila Executive Officer Ishrat Jahan Soni said she visited the site and that the allegation would be investigated before action was taken.

Badalgachhi police chief Muhammad Ruhul Amin said the girl’s family had come to the police station and that legal action would be taken if it submitted a written complaint.

A union chairman alleged that complaints involving women and child marriage had previously been raised against the accused, but no details of those allegations or their outcomes were provided.

No arrest, formal case filing, response from the accused, or findings from an investigation were confirmed.
