The prosecution completed its hearing seeking formal charges against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and nine other accused in a crimes-against-humanity case over the deaths of seven people in Patartek, Gazipur.
International Crimes Tribunal-1 heard the application on 2 August before a single-member bench led by Justice Md Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.
Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim alleged that seven people were taken from different parts of the country and held in a secret police detention site in Bogura.
He alleged that they were taken on 8 October 2016 to Solaiman Sarkar's house in Noagaon Patartek and shot dead by SWAT personnel in an operation called Operation Sharater Toofan.
Tamim said the prosecution's case is that the operation was presented as a counterterrorism action.
The prosecution further alleged that the killings formed part of a wider pattern of enforced disappearance and extrajudicial killing between 2009 and 2024.
It said four of the seven dead have yet to be identified, while the other three were identified as Md Ibrahim, Faridul Islam Akash and Saifur Rahman.
The other accused include former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former police chief AKM Shahidul Haque, former Dhaka police commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia and several former police officials.
Shahidul Haque and Asaduzzaman Mia are in custody and were produced before the tribunal on Sunday.
Defence lawyers requested time to seek discharge, with lawyer Sifat Mahmud Shubho saying necessary prosecution documents had been received late.
With no prosecution objection, the tribunal scheduled the defence hearing for 10 August.
The prosecution filed its formal complaint against the 10 accused on 3 February, after which the tribunal issued arrest warrants for accused described as absconding.
