Dhaka Metropolitan Police said it arrested 431 people and filed 23 cases during regular operations across the capital over the preceding 24 hours.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Niaz Mahdi of the force's Media and Public Relations Division provided the figures on 1 August.

Police said the arrests included 135 in Mirpur division, 53 in Uttara, 51 in Gulshan, 48 each in Wari and Tejgaon, and 34 in Motijheel.

The remaining totals were 33 in Ramna, 21 in Lalbagh and eight by the Detective Branch, police said.

Police said they seized 82.5 kilograms of cannabis, 3,256 yaba tablets and 175 bottles of Phensedyl during the operations.

The force also listed 494.12 grams of gold jewellery, a motorcycle, a pickup truck, a bus and five mobile phones among the items recovered.

Police said one person described as a victim was recovered, but did not provide further details.

Mahdi said legal action against the people arrested was under way.
