Police have arrested Sohel Rana, the husband of dentist Sarah Roksana Pinu, as a suspect in an investigation into her death in Dakshinkhan.
Pinu's body was recovered from her home in the Faidadabad area on Thursday.
Police initially said that intruders had entered the home after cutting a window grille and killed her.
Investigators later said that a shoe print found at the scene matched a shoe recovered from the home and linked to Rana.
The investigating officer sought seven days of remand after producing Rana before a Dhaka metropolitan magistrate on Saturday.
The court sent him to jail and scheduled the remand hearing for Monday.
The remand application states that Pinu's daughter found her unconscious on a bed after returning from school.
It further alleges that, after being informed, Rana did not promptly arrive and arrange immediate medical treatment.
The application also says that Rana told investigators he had been dissatisfied with his wife.
Pinu's sister, Sarah Sultana Poly, filed a murder case against unidentified people at Dakshinkhan police station on Friday.
Poly said Pinu had often told her by phone that she was afraid of her husband.
The allegations in the remand application and the sister's statement have not been tested in court, and no finding of guilt has been reported.
