Border Guard Bangladesh detained a 39-year-old Nigerian national, identified as Austin, in Nijkalikapur of Parshuram upazila in Feni.
BGB said its Nijkalikapur border outpost team conducted the operation on the evening of 3 August after receiving information that he was staying at a local residence.
During initial questioning, the detainee said he had arrived in Bangladesh in March and travelled from Dhaka to the area.
He told BGB that he intended to cross the border into India without authorization.
BGB handed him over to Parshuram police for legal action.
Feni Battalion commander Lieutenant Colonel M M Zillur Rahman said the force was maintaining surveillance and operations to prevent unauthorized border crossings, smuggling and drug trafficking.
