Pakistan defeated West Indies by eight wickets in the Port of Spain Test, ending an eight-match sequence of away-Test defeats.
The victory levelled the two-Test series at 1-1.
West Indies were dismissed for 344 in their first innings before Pakistan replied with 387.
Abdullah Shafique anchored Pakistan’s first innings with an unbeaten 160, while captain Babar Azam made 88.
West Indies began their second innings 43 runs behind and were bowled out for 117.
Ali Usman and Sajid Khan took four wickets apiece in the second innings.
Pakistan were set 75 to win and reached the target for the loss of two wickets.
Shafique and Babar remained unbeaten on 24 each in the chase.
Babar said Pakistan had executed their plans, citing Shafique’s first-innings batting and the spinners’ second-innings work.
He said the selection of an additional spinner followed an assessment that the pitch resembled conditions in Pakistan.
West Indies captain Roston Chase said his side may have benefited from playing an additional spinner and said an index-finger injury restricted his bowling.
Pakistan’s previous away-Test victory was against Sri Lanka in Colombo in July 2023.
Pakistan are scheduled to begin a three-Test series in England at Headingley on 19 August.
