Police recovered partial remains believed to be those of an unidentified woman from beneath the Baganbari culvert bridge in Sabujbagh on Thursday morning.

Sabujbagh police said the recovery took place at about 9am on 6 August.

Officer-in-Charge Saiful Islam said the recovered parts included a head and two hands.

He said the remaining parts had not yet been located.

Police assessed the remains as female based on their initial examination.

Police said their preliminary assessment was that the woman may have been killed two to three days before the recovery.

Saiful Islam said the remains were partially decomposed.

Police said the woman's identity had not been established.

Police said they planned to use fingerprint collection in efforts to identify her.

The Criminal Investigation Department's forensic team was working on identification, police said.

Police said legal procedures in connection with the case were under way.
