The Cabinet Division has instructed government offices to exercise the highest caution and responsibility when using artificial-intelligence tools for official work.
The instruction calls on officials to ensure the security of sensitive and confidential government information.
It says existing laws, rules and government directives must be followed when AI is used in official tasks.
The E-Governance-2 branch issued the letter on 28 July and sent it to all senior secretaries and secretaries.
The letter says AI use is increasing across government offices and can improve speed, efficiency and productivity.
It warns that careless use may result in unauthorized disclosure of sensitive or confidential information, or its transfer to third parties.
The directive says the aim is to ensure positive use of AI while maintaining information security.
Senior Assistant Secretary Sheikh Zobayer Ahmed signed the letter, which asks ministries, divisions and offices to take the necessary precautions.
