Bangladesh’s first touring contingent has departed for Australia ahead of a two-Test series.
The series is described as Bangladesh’s first Test assignment in Australia in 23 years.
The group flew out on a Singapore Airlines flight at 11:55pm on 31 July.
Test captain Najmul Hossain Shanto was in the first group, alongside Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Amit Hasan.
Head coach Phil Simmons, batting coach Mohammad Ashraful and spin coach Mushtaq Ahmed also travelled with the contingent.
The group also included bowling-coaching personnel and several members of the support staff.
The remaining players and officials are expected to join the squad on a separate flight on 2 August.
The first Test is scheduled to start in Darwin on 13 August.
Mackay is set to host the second and final Test from 22 August.
Bangladesh plan to use training sessions and a preparation match in Australia to adapt to local conditions before the series begins.
