The Bangladesh Meteorological Department issued a cautionary message on Sunday (2 August) for the country's inland river ports.

The warning, valid from 5am to 1pm, says temporary gusty or squally winds of 45-60 km/h from the south or south-east may blow over the Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet regions.

Rain or thundershowers are possible in the same regions during the advisory period, according to the department.

Inland river ports in the affected areas were told to hoist local cautionary signal number one.

The advisory names the three regions collectively and does not specify individual districts.

It gives no indication of expected conditions after 1pm.
