The Bangladesh Meteorological Department advised inland river ports in seven regions to display local cautionary signal No. 1 amid a forecast of gusty or squally winds with rain or thundershowers.
The river-port forecast covered the period from 5am to 1pm on 1 August.
The affected regions are Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet.
Winds in those areas could reach 45 to 60 kilometres per hour, the department said.
For Dhaka and surrounding areas, the department forecast partly cloudy skies and a chance of light rain during the six hours from 7am.
Southerly or southeasterly winds in Dhaka may blow at 8 to 12 kilometres per hour, while daytime temperatures were expected to remain nearly unchanged.
At 6am, Dhaka recorded a temperature of 28.1 degrees Celsius and relative humidity of 87 percent, the department said.
The city’s recorded minimum temperature for the day was 27.6 degrees Celsius, while the previous day’s maximum was 33.6 degrees Celsius.
No rainfall was recorded in Dhaka during the preceding 24 hours, the department said.
In a separate 24-hour outlook ending at 6pm, the department forecast rain or thundershowers in many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.
That outlook also indicated rain or thundershowers at some places in Rajshahi, Dhaka and Khulna divisions, with isolated moderate heavy rainfall possible anywhere in the country.
Daytime and nighttime temperatures nationwide were expected to remain nearly unchanged under the 24-hour outlook.
